Last Rites Wednesday for Mrs. Gilmette at St. Paul Church Here
Funeral services for Mrs. Peter Gilmette were held at ten o'clockWednesday morning in St. Paul's Catholic Church in Onaway withFr. Robert G. Smith officiating. Mrs. Gilmette died SundaySeptember 5 in the Russell Memorial Hospital after a lingeringillness. Hattie Gilmette was born in Alpena December 31, 1887and lived in Alpena until she married Peter Gilmette of Onawayin 1909. She had lived in the Onaway community the past 56years. She was a member of St. Paul Catholic Church and becamea member of the St. Paul's Alter Society soon after coming toOnaway. Survivors are two sons Arnold of Troy and Peter ofCheboygan; one daughter Mrs. Joseph Bobola (Madeleine) of Onaway;on step son Alphonse of Cheboygan, Flora DeVuyst of Detroit;two brothers, Henry Shorkey of Roger City and Israel Shorkeyof Alpena; two sisters Rose Griffetts of Munising and YvonneRivers of Alpena; ten grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.The rosary was said at eight o'clock Tuesday evening in theChagnon Chapel, burial was in St. Paul's Cemetery, Onaway.
